Tired feet again. But what did we expect ? We saw everything on the National Mall west of 7th street. Very stirring. Only got to two Smithsonian Museums and the National Archives. Very impressive.
Had another information overload day, but loved it all. Back to the room at 7pm and pooped out.
Still cannot get my pics into picasa? Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can get them on to the IPad, but not to this blog, so I put a couple on Facebook.
Tomorrow is the Capitol building and Senator Coburn's office.

Day 2
Sore feet...we put on miles today, really !!!
Walked to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing early to get our tickets for an afternoon tour then on to the White House for the 10:30 self guided tour. Then back to BEP. While waiting we went thru the Holocaust Museum. Everything was pretty cool and all free. Gotta love it.
Teresa insisted on going to the Kennedy Center again. Win some, lose some. Horrible!!! Caddywhompus was the name of the twosome. We weren't the only ones to leave early, but I'm pretty sure we we first.
We found a Whole Foods food store, got some good fruit.
Met Carol Lee Morgan on the shuttle from the Kennedy center. Interesting to chat with, she left early , too. Carol is a sculpturist and artist. Is sculpturist a real word?
I futzed so much yesterday I have no idea what actually made the pictures appear. So only one try today. I don't get it !!! Nope not getting it.

History, Ours
Great day, good trip and exploring this afternoon.
Hiked around Federal Square including the White House. While eating at Five Guys Teresa spotted a note for a free concert at the Kennedy Center. We went, the Navy band; Country Current played. It was really good and free and we're getting the metro figured out too. Looks like something has changed on the blog site... Can't upload pictures. I will keep trying. Next up tomorrow is the real White House tour, no cameras.
Dinner at Five Guys, did not disappoint.
Still can't get picture uploaded, frustrating. Got 1 ... Anyway we're having a good time.
Promise I won't do that again. When I backed out all of the pics were there, multiple times.

UNCHAINED !!!
I'm unchained, y'all (thanks Joe.) Can you believe he said that and can you believe it works for me. As of this afternoon I/we are semi-retired and UNCHAINED, feels pretty good for the moment.
Wish I could say I'm gonna miss it, but I can't go there. I learned a lot and had some good and bad experiences and made some new friends. I had a blast hanging out with Danny and hearing his stories. Danny is quite a mechanic, he can fix about anything. He says he hates it but secretly I think he enjoys it. Saved me quite a few times cause I'm not. Good luck to you and get a louder alarm.
Teresa had a wonderful week saying so long to her dancing and gaming friends. They think she's pretty special. Guess what ? So do I and she's all mine now. Sorry Ladies.
We sure appreciated the coaching from Don and Cheryl on the dance floor. It's really fun to watch you two gliding around floor. The rest of the Moose and Rockin' Horse dance crowd are a pleasure to be around, thanks for letting us join in.
Now we've got to get this place organized and ready to move most of it tomorrow and then the bed, TV and few small items on Monday. Then we're headed for OKC and DC.

Short !!!
I'm short... literally and figuratively. Short as in 5'6" (stretching) and short as in 5 working days. During my time in the army all outgoing personnel under about 30 days were SHORT ! So we're really short now. Anxious, maybe. Excited, absolutely.
We're having a debate on the use of the word "camping." We're planning to sleep in a tent at various places on our road trip. Mostly to save the 50 or more bucks a night, cause I'm cheap. But we're not planning to prepare meals and s'mores and stuff. Just sleep. Is that camping ? I'm calling it sleeping, she's calling it camping. After proof reading this paragraph she's now calling it "tenting." How does that sound ?
One of the places we're "tenting" at is the San Rafael Swell in Utah:

10 Work Days Left
Yesterday I sent my resignation letter to John, the terminal manager at Groendyke letting him know that August 25th would be my last work day. Ten work days left. I'm sort of calling it semi-retired.
I figure when we get back in a year or so we'll both have to get jobs, but in the mean time WE are semi-retired.
Oh, forgot, last week while reviewing accounts I realized we had enough airline miles on United to take a little trip before our road trip before our trip to Cancun before our big trip. Did you follow that ?
Anyways we're going to go to Washington D.C. 8/28 - 9/1. I contacted Tom Coburn's office. He's our senator from OK. They are arranging tours of the White House and the Capitol. While there we'll also be checking out the monuments and Smithsonian Institute museums.
We'll come home on Saturday 9/1 and start our road trip on 9/2. We may be semi-retired but there will not be any grass growing under our feet.
Think we're excited for the next two weeks to pass and get going ? You betcha.
