One Step Further

We made our plane reservations today...

We will be leaving on 9/30, the day after we return from Cancun.  We will arrive in Brisbane from Oklahoma City via Dallas/Fort Worth two days later at 5:00 am.  The flight from Dallas is non-stop 16 hours and 5 minutes.  Can you imagine an airplane being in the air for 16 hours ?

One other strange thing.  A one way ticket is more expensive than a round trip, by a bunch.  What's up with that ?  Anyway it is what it is...

We have decided to spend the first two days  to recuperate from 16 hours on a plane and visit Brisbane.  We're going to stay at a youth hostel in Brisbane before going on up to Gladstone to stay with the Rob and Julie.  Think we'll fit in despite our not being "youths" ?  I don't think they really are "youth" rather more for backpackers in general.  That would be us.

Last thing we need is emergency medical travel insurance.  I will be shopping for that in August. 

I have the vw bug scheduled for a "check-up" on Thursday to make sure we're all set to go on our road trip in September.  We're counting down 75 days until last my work day and clear out of the apartment then start our road trip. 

Tracie has finished her RN training so she has come down to stay with Teresa for the summer.  She takes her national RN certification test on Wednesday.  Good luck, Tracie.   That's Tracie, Teresa and Andrea; left to right.

Teresa's Other Home

Not to be out done, here are Teresa's homes away from home.  Now that she is not working, she spends a lot of time in her bug and the YMCA.  Top down of course.  Can you read the license plate on the bug ?  It is very telling.

The YMCA is new, just opened in December and it is very nice, with lots of classes and two swimming pools.  Teresa is quite a water baby.

We're putting the bug in storage during our Australian adventure.

Testing camera, Ipad and blog.  Some things just don't work.  I got the Samsung (and paid extra) camera because it uses WIFI for downloading.  No cables.  The software is on a CD and the Ipad does not have a CD.  So far I have not found a way to get the software online, so the camera is going back.  Yesterday I got the Ipad camera connect kit and it lets the Ipad read the SD card from the camera.  Think that will work.

Back to Best Buy to return the Samsung camera and try another.

Time for a nap.
